QATAR OFFSHORE FIELD
APEXPE successfully executed a challenging well intervention project in an offshore field in Qatar. A liftboat with a coiled tubing unit was deployed to workover extended reach, multi-lateral wells. APEX engineers designed the well intervention programs, developing novel techniques to extend the coiled tubing reach and re-enter the open hole laterals using a new lateral re-entry tool. Acid stimulations, wellbore cleanouts, water and gas shutoffs and production logging on both producing and injection wells were performed. Results included tripling production and injection volumes after the interventions.
PINEDALE ANTICLINE
APEX provided Drilling Engineering expertise for a drilling program on the Pinedale Anticline. Prior to APEX involvement, the client’s 13,000’ gas wells were on average being drilled to TD in 64 days. APEX engineers revised the drilling program, optimizing the casing design, mud programs, bit and motor selection, and rigsite supervision personnel. These changes ultimately resulted in a decrease in drilling time to 50 days, saving the client over $400,000 per well.
KERN COUNTY RESERVOIR
APEX Operations Engineers are providing completion and workover expertise for a significant exploitation project in a mature oilfield with multiple reservoirs in Kern County, California. The APEX Engineers are incorporated into the multi-discipline Reservoir Management Teams and develop workover and completion strategies to most effectively exploit the reservoirs. APEX Engineers help identify the well candidates, then write the workover/completion procedure and prepare a detailed AFE package. The APEX engineer then provides support during the execution of the workover/completion, providing wellsite monitoring during critical operations such as fracing, cementing, running liners, fishing, or logging/perforating. Workover goals have been achieved and the production decline of the field has been arrested.
